Teaching Method

A creative approach to teaching promotes and improves childrens development and learning. These workshops are intended to guide their energy and stimulate their imagination through yoga postures, movement theatre, group tasks and games. The activities help the children to develop an awareness of themselves and a sensitivity of others.  They actively experience how to stay safe, and interact with respect and honesty.

We encourage children to recognise and value their creativity by giving them opportunities to share their ideas with others. This could be a yoga posture that they have created, a quirky animal walk, a group balance depicting a castle or synchronised movement with a partner. Having the confidence to take risks whilst staying safe are central to a child’s personal and social development. The non-competitive nature of Yoga helps to cultivate an enthusiasm for play and exploration, in a supportive environment.

Adults can benefit from children’s ability to follow their imagination and see things from different perspectives. If teachers, parents or carers are able to support children’s creativity it helps the child to feel valued for their individuality as well as their technical skill. This boosts their sense of self-worth and leads to a positive relationship with themself and with others.

‘Usually you ask them and they’re doing “nothing!” at school. They actually come home and tell you – and they can’t wait to tell you, rather than you having to ask them.’
